MLRIT Establishes Cutting-edge Non-Destructive Testing and Welding Laboratory

Marri Lakshman Reddy Institute of Technology (MLRIT) has unveiled a state-of-the-art non-destructive testing and welding laboratory in collaboration with Synergem. This facility aims to equip students with essential skills for the aerospace, defense, and manufacturing sectors.

The newly established lab features advanced testing methodologies, including ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle inspection, and liquid penetrant testing. These methods offer students hands-on experience in flaw detection and material integrity assessment.

Additionally, the welding laboratory provides a platform for students to master various welding processes such as shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and tungsten inert gas welding. Equipped with cutting-edge welding machines and tools, this lab facilitates practical learning experiences.

During the lab’s inauguration, G.A. Srinivasa Murthy, Director of Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL/DRDO), and Manoj Gatty, Director of GEECY Apave Pvt. Ltd., emphasized the importance of hands-on training and research. They highlighted the significance of NDT techniques and welding technologies across diverse industries.

Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, Founder Secretary of MLRIT and Malkajgiri MLA, stated that the primary objective behind establishing this facility is to prepare students for placements in core companies by providing them with essential skills.
