In a bid to enhance community services, the Maradu municipality in Kochi has rolled out the inaugural phase of Kudumbashree’s ‘Quick Serve’ initiative. Designed to cater to various needs including domestic chores, elderly and childcare, and housekeeping, the initiative enlists approximately 40 members from local groups in its initial phase. Spearheaded by the Kudumbashree Mission statewide, the project aims to extend support both to households and workplaces.

Empowering Communities with “Quick Serve” and Providing Employment
Antony Asanparambil, the Municipal Chairman, expressed optimism about the initiative, emphasizing its potential to deliver quality services to families in need while generating employment opportunities for women. Telma Sanooj, Chairperson of the Community Development Society in Maradu West, highlighted the enthusiastic response from the public, indicating a promising start for the endeavor. Remuneration for participating individuals will adhere to Kudumbashree Mission guidelines, with efforts underway to secure sponsorships for providing uniforms and conducting necessary training sessions before deployment.
Towards Self-Employment and Economic Growth
Furthermore, the Kudumbashree envisions supporting microenterprise units formed through this initiative by facilitating access to loans. These funds will enable the purchase of essential equipment, such as cleaning supplies or car wash tools, fostering self-employment and contributing to economic growth at the grassroots level. As the ‘Quick Serve’ initiative takes flight in Maradu, it stands as a testament to collaborative efforts aimed at community empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.
In essence, the launch of the ‘Quick Serve’ initiative heralds a new era of community engagement and economic empowerment in Maradu, Kochi. Through this concerted effort, Kudumbashree and local authorities seek to address diverse needs while fostering self-reliance and prosperity within the community.
